The Yorkshire Gardens Trust was formed in 1996, it works to conserve and foster this garden heritage for the benefit of present and future generations. It aims to improve the awareness and appreciation of the value of parks, gardens and designed landscapes as part of our local and national inheritance. The Trust provides opportunites:
To learn about the history of the design and development of the county's parks and gardens and their conservation.
To help with conservation where gardens may be under threat.
To join a research team in the piecing together the past.
To undertake surveys of gardens and record them.
To help with work in schools with a view to creating a new generation of enthusiasts.
To carry out practical garden projects.
To work with and complement other organisations with related interests.
Or just simply to enjoy the talks and visits.
